One of the most common mistakes that we as plumbers run across daily can cause more damage to a homes plumbing system than anything else. Electrolytic Corrosion (Electrolysis) occurs when different metals are in contact in the presence of an electrolyte such as water or moisture.

You can visually inspect the most common place where this mistake occurs. Usually, it is where your main water service connects to your sprinkler system. Galvanized metals should never be directly connected to copper without either a plastic, brass or a dielectric union between the connections.
